OPM Returns

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen the Official Playstation Magazine here in the States. It was dropped about a year ago after a decade-long print run by a Ziff-Davis that was bleeding money (meanwhile, the UK version has been truckin’ along just fine). Now, Next-gen.biz reports that Future US has used necromancy negotiated a deal with SCEA to resurrect it from the grave. With their other recent acquisition, Nintendo Power, the company now holds the reins to each of the big three’s official publications. Who wouldn’t want that kind of sway?

With an initial circulation of 300,000 copies, it seems that Future has ample faith in the um, future, of print games journalism. OPM’s first new issue will debut in late November, but it’s unclear whether or not the magazine will retain its trademark demo disc pack-in. The pub will be headed by former PSM EIC, Rob Smith.
