Metal Gear Solid 4 May Not Be Last Metal Gear, Again.

Many have speculated that if Solid Snake dies in Metal Gear Solid 4, the franchise will go with him. Well, regardless of what happens, it seems that Kojima just can’t stay away from the drug that’s been running his life for around twenty years. Face it, Hideo, you love Snake. Few people have put as much time and detail into creating a universe as you have and leaving it is the hardest pill you can swallow. You can pull the “I want to work on other things” card all you want, but in the end, Metal Gear is your baby and you just can’t completely let go. From Next-gen.biz:

But in a recent phone interview, Konami Digital Entertainment’s new marketing VP Anthony Crouts said otherwise.

“I’m sure he’s never going to let go of Metal Gear Solid—trust me. [Snake’s] a big character, so as a franchise I think he’ll always hold it near and dear to his heart.

”In one capacity or another, he will always be involved in the Metal Gear franchise.”

Seems like Snake won’t ever truly die until Kojima kicks the bucket. Whatever role he plans on taking in the franchise from here on out, I’m not worried. He’s had a quality team working with him on these games since the very first one and I’d be more than confident in their ability to continue the franchise even if Hideo straight-up quit one day and lived out the rest of his life as a hermit. Really, it’s all dandy as long as I eventually get my Zone of the Enders for PS3.
