Portal Flash: Fewer Dimensions, Nearly As Fun

If you’re one of the shameful beings who has yet to shell out the cash for Portal (part of the Orange Box, now available on Xbox 360, PC, and Steam), you probably don’t even deserve to experience a small piece of its unfathomable greatness. Fine, I’ll feed into your slovenly, cheapass ways, if only this once! Someone’s put up a rather good two-dimensional clone of Portal on Newgrounds (you know, for free).

Mechanically, it works about the same, though I found there to be a few issues with aiming here and there, not to mention a bug that doesn’t save your progress. At 40 or so levels, it’s actually longer and potentially more devious than the original, but it’s not quite the same without that mind-bending third axis or GLaDOS taunting you in her oddly seductive, yet clearly murderous robot voice. I mean, come on, there’s not even any cake!

Still, I suppose it’s worth checking out if you’ve got some free time to kill (you just better buy the real thing, mister!).
