Capcom: Bionic Commando For Next-Gen Systems

It’s been in the wings for awhile, more a series of unconfirmed rumors than a total surprise, but Bionic Commando is finally finally finally receiving a true update (coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and PC)! The genesis for the project is rather odd (a collaboration between an American producer, a Japanese creative advisor, and Swedish game studio GRIN [who’ll likely be handling most of the development duties]), but the premise sounds extremely promising. Bionic soldier Nathan Spencer, recently framed and frauded by his superiors for one reason or another, gets his chance at redemption after a terrorist weapon blows Ascension City to bits. Guess who the desperate G-Men come running to first? The only man with the military expertise needed to take down the enemy and the extendable limbs necessary to reach them, of course. The freshly twisted metropolis will no doubt serve as the perfect playground for exhibiting the best of Spencer’s acrobatics.

We’re going to have to wait for more details, but you can go to Gamespot for a couple of tasty screenshots.

It’s also unknown whether or not the revelation of Bionic Commando is related to the timer currently counting down on Capcom Unity, as it still has a day and a half to go. Is another surprise still in the wings? If I remember correctly, Capcom said that there would be several huge announcements made around the middle of October way back at the Tokyo Game Show. If you toss Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii in with Bionic Commando, there’s still room for a third. Let’s wait and see!
