About Sony Drone

Sony Drone’s main purpose is to serve as a loving, but critical evaluation of Sony’s place in the industry. Posts generally center around daily news bites and articles with varying degrees of commentary thrown in for good measure. Though the blog is Playstation-centric, it also covers other aspects of the gaming industry when interesting enough or deemed appropriate.

For now, Sony Drone is run and written by freelance journalist Cavin Smith who has had previous experience working for both PSXExtreme (October 2005 – August 2006) and Gaming-Age (2001), though he’s just a tad embarassed at the quality of writing for the latter. Hey, it was a long time ago!

Cavin has been gaming for over twenty years. He owns all major consoles, as well as handhelds, and has kept his finger on the pulse of the industry for over eight years as a member of NeoGAF/Gaming-Age Forums. He graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in English in the Spring of 2007 and is currently seeking further employment and experience in the field of gaming journalism. If you have any questions, concerns, requests, or work opportunities, feel free to e-mail him at belfastga@gmail.com or csmithvk@ufl.edu.

  1. Hello!
I’m really liking your site and I hope you continue with it. I’ll keep reading and add this to my RSS-thingy.

    Keep the good work up!

  2. hi there belfastga. i really like your perspective on sony. i feel that you have an open mind about the ps3 console, yet you aren’t so biased that you cannot criticize sony (or anyone else) for thier screw ups. i have created a blog call pswi60.wordpress.com, and i was wondering if you could work with me (join forces?). my blog tries to be unbiased and intelligent about the next generation of console gaming. i have both systems as well, and i am looking for some writers/contributors. let me know if you are interested. thanks.

  3. Thanks pswi60. I appreciate the compliments, and there’s always more room for reasoned perspectives!
